    Newest HD technology- HDMI

Since introduction of VGA technology by IBM in 1997, there have been many new projects undertaken worldwide; including HDMI technology. The all new HDMI technology suitable for broadcasting high definition video and audio broadcast signal to supported multimedia devices with great quality. HDMI technology was first implemented in 2003 and is still in use.
Compact audio/video interface presented by High-Definition Multimedia Interface technology presents uncompressed digital signal which is transmitted through a single cable, unlike VGA technology which requires separate cable for audio transmission.
Most modern TV and digital media equipments support HDMI technology used for high definition broadcast. Mainstream gaming consoles including Sony PS3 and Xbox 360 also support the new HDMI technology.
HDMI connector is often used with a CEC connection which allows HDMI devices to control each other when required. Multiple HDMI devices can also be used with just one remote control with such arrangement.
Other advantages of HDMI technology include its complete compatibility with DVI interface that eliminates the need of any convertor or adapter while using DVI input signal with HDMI-compliant multimedia device. HDMI signal is also independent of numerous digital television standards that need to be followed for consumer electronic devices for successfully transmitting heavy uncompressed MPEG streams.
As HDMI technology evolved, there are a few versions available now with somewhat different specifications. Version 1.4 is the newest version released on May 28, 2009. Cablesson released world’s first HDMI 1.4-compliant connectivity cable on June 22. Maximum resolution supported, TMDS/audio/video bandwidth and 3D support are the main advantages improvements observed in HDMI v1.4.
Nowadays, HDMI port is available in high-end notebooks and some modern PCs. HDMI cables are manufactured by many third-party hardware companies. These cables are essential in carrying HDMI video signals over long distance.
